Foreign Domestic Helper Holidays
Rest Days
· Employers should provide foreign domestic helpers with 4 rest days per month, at least one rest day per week. However, rest days are not mandatory on Sundays.
Statutory Holidays
· When a foreign domestic helper has worked continuously for the employer for 3 months, they are entitled to the following statutory holidays, totaling 14 days per year:
- January 1 (Gregorian calendar)
- Lunar New Year’s Day
- 2nd day of Lunar New Year
- 3rd day of Lunar New Year
- Qingming Festival
- May 1 (Labour Day)
- Buddha’s Birthday
- Dragon Boat Festival
- Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day
- National Day
- The day after Mid-Autumn Festival
- Chongyang Festival
- Winter Solstice or Christmas Day (selected by the employer)
- The first Sunday after Christmas
Paid Annual Leave
Foreign domestic helpers are entitled to 7 days of paid annual leave after serving the employer for 1 year.
