1. Sufficient financial capacity to employ a foreign domestic helper. Generally, for each foreign domestic helper employed, the employer’s household income must be at least HK$15,000 per month, or the employer must possess assets of a similar amount sufficient to employ the helper throughout the contract period.
2. The foreign domestic helper and the employer must sign the specified standard employment contract.
3. The foreign domestic helper may only perform household duties listed in the standard employment contract for the employer.
4. During their stay in the Hong Kong SAR, foreign domestic helpers must not engage in employment for others.
5. The employer must commit to paying the foreign domestic helper a salary not less than the stipulated minimum wage announced by the Hong Kong SAR Government. If meals are not provided to the foreign domestic helper, the agreed meal allowance must not be less than HK$1,236 per month.
6. The foreign domestic helper must work and reside at the employer’s address specified in the standard employment contract.
7. The employer must provide the foreign domestic helper with suitable accommodation with reasonable privacy.
8. There must be no doubt about the genuine purpose of the employment relationship between the employer and the helper, and neither party has a known bad record.
9. The employer must be a bona fide Hong Kong resident living in Hong Kong.
